01
DPP definition

One digital record per product. Built once, read by everyone.

A Digital Product Passport is a structured, machine-readable record that travels with your product, from production to end-of-life. It is accessed through a QR code or other data carrier, and it is readable by any system in the supply chain.
Product identity & general info
Manufacturer, trade name, unique identifier, installation & safety info
Performance & compliance
Test results, technical data sheets, harmonised standards, REACH/SVHC
Environmental performance
Carbon footprint, lifecycle indicators, EPD-based data, environmental label
End-of-life scenarios
Recyclability, disassembly, recovery potential

The DPP connects and digitises your existing product documentation

Your EPD already covers the environmental layer. Your DoPC covers the compliance side. Your REACH/SVHC declarations cover substances. The DPP is the structured record that pulls these together, adds product identity, installation and safety information, and end-of-life data, and makes the whole thing machine-readable for everyone who needs it.

The timeline

2026

CPR (EU) 2024/3110 enters into application. EU DPP infrastructure begins rollout.

2027-2029

Harmonised standards and delegated acts for the first construction product families are published. DPP obligations apply around 18 months after each takes effect.

2030+

Broader coverage of construction product categories as the framework matures under CPR and ESPR.

The adoption curve has already started

The gap between early movers and late reactors is opening now.
Phase 1 – You are here

The Window

2026

2027

Standards firming up. Early movers build the data foundation now.
Phase 2

The Shift

2028

2030

Delegated acts publish. Procurement starts requiring DPP-backed data.
Phase 3

The Default

2031

Verifiable product data is table stakes. You compete on what you do with it.

the gap turns into advantage:

01

As AI is embedded in product workflows

Sales agents, configurators, RFP automation: each is only as good as the data underneath. DPP-ready manufacturers ship them faster.

02

In tenders

Move from price competition to performance competition. The bids that pay best already work this way.

03

In supplier selection

Construction firms now run into Scope 3 reporting walls. Suppliers with verified data become the default choice.

How it works

A live digital twin.
A product’s entire story.

Product data enters from the systems you already run. Emidat calculates, structures, and validates it, then hosts the record so every team and every system reads from the same source.

Your digital product passport on Emidat

04
How it’s used

One twin.
Every team.
Every workflow.

A Digital Product Passport pulls data from across your organisation. Emidat gives every team a way in: the same record, the view that fits their work.
For sustainability & LCA teams

Take your EPD work beyond the report.

Your EPD already covers the Annex II indicators under EN 15804+A2. That's the full lifecycle picture of your product's carbon, material, and resource impact. Structured into a DPP, the same verified data becomes ready everywhere it's asked for.

Same verified data, ready for green tenders and EU public procurement

Answer buyer Scope 3 requests with the data already in your platform

Manage EPDs and DPPs from the same source, no duplicate data entry

Position products that lead on environmental performance, with proof attached

You EDP covers
  • Lifecycle impact indicators (GWP, ODP, AP, EP, POCP)
  • LCA calculation results
  • Third-party verification
+
DPP adds
  • Product identity & QR code
  • Materials & substance data
  • Technical performance
  • Compliance certificates
  • End-of-life guidance
For sales teams

Answer every buyer data request, in minutes.

Architects, contractors, and procurement teams ask for product data on every project. With structured DPP data, sales has the answer ready: same source, same format, every time. No more chasing the technical team for a spec sheet hours before a deadline.

One link or QR code answers most buyer data questions

Same data, in the format each buyer or platform expects

Faster RFP and tender response, with proof attached

Handle any buyer data request in sales, without looping in R&D or compliance

For product and R&D teams

Build DPP data into the design,
not after it.

Material composition, substance data, and lifecycle impact are cheapest to capture at the design stage and most expensive to reconstruct later. With DPP-ready data structures, R&D can compare formulations, test material substitutions, and back new product claims with the same verified data the rest of the business uses.

Compare formulations side by side, with carbon and substance impact on screen

Test recycled-content scenarios before committing to a material

See data gaps before products go to market, not after a buyer flags them

Back new product positioning with the same verified data on the DPP

For Regulatory & compliance teams

Audit-ready DPP data, end to end.

CPR (EU) 2024/3110 and ESPR (EU) 2024/1781 introduce binding DPP requirements, defined further through delegated acts and harmonised technical specifications. Emidat gives compliance teams a single place to build, manage, and audit DPP data across the full product portfolio.

Structured data collection aligned with CPR and ESPR requirements

Audit trail and version history for every published passport

Output formats aligned to the EU DPP registry as specifications are finalised

For Leadership teams

Turn the mandate intoa competitive position.

The DPP is a live digital twin. Once your product data is verified and live, your product data is verified and live, the same foundation opens new service offerings, take-back models, premium positioning on what your products actually deliver, and commercial relationships shaped by the data itself.

Position early for the new business models DPP-ready data unlocks

Clear procurement filters in green tenders, public projects, and EU-funded builds

Defend premium pricing on verified carbon and sustainability claims

Make the portfolio legible: which product lines lead, which need investment

Common questions

Answers to what buyers ask first.

One platform for EPDs and DPPs. License-based pricing, scoped to your portfolio and the regulations that apply to your product categories. Built on the platform already used by 150+ building products manufacturers.
How long does it take to get our first DPP out?

It mostly depends on your data readiness. Manufacturers with existing EPDs are typically operational with their Digital Product Passport within a few weeks, the environmental data is already structured and feeds the DPP directly. For manufacturers without EPDs, we create EPDs first (typically under 2 weeks), then build the DPP on top. The main variable is how accessible your product data is across your portfolio. We scope this on an onboarding call.

How does Emidat's DPP relate to my existing EPDs?

Your existing EPDs feed directly into the DPP. A construction-product DPP under CPR will reference your EN 15804+A2 EPD data (GWP, embodied carbon, lifecycle indicators) as part of its content. If you already have EPDs, Emidat ingests them directly and uses them as the environmental data foundation of the DPP.

If LCA results differ, does every product need a separate DPP?

It is yet to be defined in the harmonization requests per product group at which granularity level products need a DPP. It is already clear that worst case and product- and plant-specific LCA data will be allowed, and averages will not be allowed.

How does Emidat integrate with our existing systems?

Emidat connects to the systems you already use: ERP, PIM and document management, energy management, and more. Data flows in via connectors or API; DPPs flow out via QR, embeddable widgets, and a public API for your customers' procurement and design systems. All DPPs are registered with the EU DPP Registry through the API connection.

Is our data secure and EU-hosted?

Yes. All data is hosted in EU data centres, encrypted in transit and at rest, GDPR-compliant, and access-controlled per your organisation. Emidat is ISO 27001 certified.

What does Emidat cost?

License-based, scoped to your portfolio and the regulations that apply to your product categories. The same platform covers EPDs and DPPs; existing EPD customers extend with a DPP license. Book a demo to walk through your setup and scope the right license.
